So, we have arrived at August 2014. The month when we feel that things are about to get real and the new Taylor Swift album will be upon us.
Events this month:
August 10th - Teen Choice Awards in LA where Taylor is presenting
August 11th - The Giver Premier in NYC
August 15th - The Giver comes out in cinemas across America
August 24th - MTV Video Music Awards in LA where Taylor will be performing
What we know/expect right now:
- We expect Taylor to announce/release the first single off the new album on a Monday or Tuesday to allow a full week on the music charts.
- Mondays in August are the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th. Now what we can assume from this is that Monday 11th August will not be release day of new music due to the giver premier. I personally think that Monday 25th August is also unlikely as Taylor would want to perform new music at the VMAs.
- Taylor is scheduled to perform at the iHeart Radio Music Festival on Sept 19th so she would definitely have released new music by then as would not want to debut new music with a liver performance.
Performing new music live for the first time when no body knows the words is something I wouldn't see Taylor doing. I don't know of any artists who may have done this in the past and I personally think it would be too risky to do such a debut of a new song on such a widely televised show such as the VMAs. MTV is a global television channel and with the show expected to be broadcast across the world both live and on playback, I don't see Taylor taking such a big leap of faith in hoping fans and critics alike enjoy the performance.
History may play a factor in debuting a first live performance of the newest single on the VMAs. Back in 2012 Taylor performed "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" live for the fist time on the VMAs after releasing the single 3 weeks beforehand.
With many festivals and award show season approaching fast, Taylor would want to be able to be nominated for awards across the board and would need new music to be able to do that. Along with nominations, Taylor is highly likely to perform at these award shows and is typically where fans will see the first live performances of new music.
Now that Taylor has given us a true clue towards the new album I shall begin a new post and will update it as we get closer to Album 5
