VMA Nominations 2015

Just the other day it was announced who landed a nomination for the 2015 Video Music Awards which will be held in Los Angeles on August 30th.

It is undisputed that Taylor has had a massive year since the release of 1989 at the end of October 2014 and this has been reflected in the nominations.

There are 2 types of nominations for the VMAs and they are public voted and professional categories. Taylor has landed 5 professional and 4 public nominations. Both Blank Space and Bad Blood are nominated with Bad Blood getting the most at 7 nominations. 5 of those Bad Blood nominations are in the professional categories, while its an even split between Blank Space and Bad Blood on the public voted categories.

The list of Nominations is below:
Video of the Year - Bad Blood
Best Pop Video - Blank Space
Best Female Video - Blank Space
Best Collaboration - Bad Blood
Best Art Direction - Bad Blood (Charles Infante)
Best Cinematography - Bad Blood (Christopher Probst)
Best Direction - Bad Blood (Joseph Kahn)
Best Editing - Bad Blood (Chancler Haynes at Cosmo Street)
Best Visual Effects - Bad Blood (Ingenuity Studios)

The top 4 categories are the ones open for public vote to US citizens only. You can vote HERE
You can find the full list of nominations HERE.

Taylor would be expected to attend the awards show and in between her touring of the west coast at that time, she will be able to attend. It is not known yet if she will be performing, but I don't see her performing this year.

Good luck with all your nominations Taylor. I hope you had more moonmans to your collection.

"1989" Sells 5 Million Copies in the US, Blank Space Reaches 1 Billion Views

Taylor has reached two more milestones in her career and these one comes with a few records along the way.

This week the US Album sales for 1989 has made it the fastest selling album in over 10 years. 1989 has reached 5 Million sales in the USA alone in just 36 weeks since its release on October 27th 2014. The magic 5 Million mark was reached in the week ending July 5th and now stands at 5.015 Million. 1989's climb to 5 Million sales is the fastest since Usher's Confessions sold 5 Million in just 19 weeks back in 2004.

1989 is now Taylor's 3rd highest selling album behind Fearless (released in 2008) and her self-titled debut (released in 2006). They've sold 6.95 million and 5.52 million, respectively, to-date. With the current sales trend of 1989, the sales would surpass her self-titled debut album in a matter of months and possibly before the end of 2015.

The last album which reached 5 Million sales was Adele's 21 back in 2011 in its 42nd week of release. 1989 also spends its 36th consecutive week in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart, meaning the album has not dropped out of the top 10 since its release.
